Meet Our Orthodontic Team

"The team here at Shuswap Orthodontics is the core of the practice. I am the architect of your smile, and they are the contractors. I could not do this without them, and I consider the team as my partners on a mission to enhance lives."  - DR. BRIAN BROADWELL

Office Manager & Treatment Coordinator

I am here to assist patients and parents during their initial office visit and ensure their experience is both pleasant and informative. I also make sure that when patients leave the office, they have all the information they need to proceed and feel confident in the decision they are making. I started working in our office in 1989 as a non-certified assistant, then took my Orthodontic Module at UBC in 1992. I have truly worked in every single position in the office from sterilizing, assisting, reception, financial, and now treatment coordinator and office manager.

We have an amazing team in that we truly all enjoy each other and really do have fun each and every day we come in to work. I have been so fortunate to work with two doctors that do incredible work and are passionate about their profession, and a staff that all strive to make every patient feel comfortable and well cared for.

My daughter, Kasey, and I are fortunate to be living in the county and enjoy camping, hiking, biking, kayaking, and gardening. When we are not off exploring, we can be found spending time with family or playing around with the horses, always with our dog, Mischief, in tow.

Treatment Coordinator & Promotions Coordinator

I have been with Shuswap Orthodontics since 2016, and am very proud to be a member of this amazing team. I started in reception, in charge of scheduling, finances, and promotions. Over the years, my job description has evolved, and I am now a treatment coordinator. In this role, I am often one of the first people in the practice that you will get to know, as I educate patients and parents about orthodontic concerns and solutions during new patient consultations. I look forward to coming to work every day, as I love meeting and connecting with new people, and have been fascinated with orthodontics since my first days in reception. As my colleagues well know, I also love to talk, so I truly feel I was made for this job!

When I’m not in new patient consultations, I may be wearing my Promotions Coordinator hat. This may involve decorating our office, plotting our next great event, carting pumpkins around downtown, or retrieving extravagantly decorated gingerbread houses from your dentist's office, among other things.

Aside from my role at Shuswap Ortho, I grew up in the Lower Mainland and the Philippines, where my elementary school was in the middle of the rain forest, in the International Rice Research Institute! After graduating high school in Manila, I moved back to Vancouver, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Psychology at UBC. My husband and I have since firmly planted our roots in Blind Bay, where we are raising our sweet, rambunctious daughter. We couldn't imagine living life anywhere else!

I earned my dental assisting certificate from Okanagan University College in 1996 and completed my Orthodontic Module in 2002 from the University of British Columbia. As a member of our assisting team, I work hard to ensure that all patients feel comfortable and valued, whether they are just starting out with records or getting their braces removed. It is so gratifying to see how a happy smile can improve the self-esteem of our patients.

Our office is proud to be a positive part of our community. Dr. Broadwell strives for perfection, and he cares about his patients. Our team accomplishes so much in a day and has time for everyone who passes through our doors. We constantly work to provide the best care for each and every patient.

My husband Brent and I have two sons, Ethan and Isaac, as well as three crazy cats. As a family, we spend our time dirt biking and playing lacrosse. When I have free time, I enjoy the many hikes in the Shuswap area thanks to the local Trail Alliance, the many beaches, and all that makes this the most beautiful place on earth.

Scheduling Coordinator

I joined the Shuswap Orthodontics team in 2023 as Scheduling Coordinator. I'm usually the first person you see when you walk in the door, and often who you speak with when you call us. I love seeing so many people every day, both familiar faces and new ones. Although a large part of my job is managing the schedule, I continue to learn so much about orthodontics every day and am thoroughly enjoying this.

I relocated to the Shuswap with my family in 2016, and I love living here. In the winters, I may be very busy traveling from rink to rink with my teenage boys, but the summers are beautiful!

I’m originally from South Africa but grew up in the beautiful Shuswap region, which I’m so grateful to call home. I’ve always had a strong eye for detail and a genuine passion for helping people, and I love being able to bring those qualities into my work every day. Making sure the financial side of patient care is clear, smooth, and stress-free is something I really take pride in.

When I’m not at the office, you’ll usually find me out exploring local trails, going for a run, or spending time in my garden—my happy place. I feel lucky to be part of such a welcoming community and to do work that makes a difference in people’s lives.

My journey into orthodontics began as a clinical assistant and I was hooked right away. I loved being a part of a team that worked together to create perfect smiles. I then became a certified dental assistant at the University of the Fraser Valley in 2014 and took the orthodontic module at UBC in 2015. I worked in an orthodontic practice in Abbotsford for 4 years before my husband and I moved to the beautiful Shuswap and I was lucky enough to join the team here. My job is so rewarding as I get to form relationships with patients and see them through every step of their journey!

I live in Blind Bay with my husband, Matt, and our two cats. We are so thankful to be able to call the Shuswap home. Outside of work, I love spending time camping, hiking, and enjoying the lake!

Originally from Edmonton, I became a registered dental assistant at KDM Dental college in 2018 and took my orthodontic module at the University of Alberta. I moved to the Shuswap in September 2021 and was lucky enough to join Shuswap Orthodontics as a Certified Dental assistant shortly after.

In my spare time, I like to do pottery, forage, and play games with my friends. Living in the Shuswap has brought me many opportunities that I thought I would never have, so I am very grateful to live here!

At Shuswap Orthodontics, we’re not just filling gaps—it's our mission to bridge the way to brighter, straighter smiles! While I’m new to the world of orthodontics and the art of tooth movement and jaw development, I’m eager to learn and grow in this field.

My goal is to offer patients the best, most caring, and gentle experience possible. I’m thrilled to sink my teeth into this new role and be part of an exceptional team. My journey into oral care began after a traumatic first dental visit after immigrating from Afghanistan to Canada, which inspired my passion for oral health. My interest still continues today.

With over 10 years as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) and as a Certified Herbalist and Aromatherapist, I understand the deep connection between oral health and overall well-being. In my free time, I love caring for my dog Yeti, savouring traditional dishes, and getting my hands dirty in the garden.
