Meet the Team
We recognize that all of our patients are unique and deserve to receive orthodontic care that reflects their individual needs. Our experienced and talented team is committed to working with you and your family to create a comfortable, stress-free, and rewarding orthodontic experience every time you visit our practice. We are pleased to welcome you and your family, and we look forward to working with you.
Office Manager/Treatment Coordinator
I am here to assist patients and parents during their initial office visit and ensure their experience is both pleasant and informative, and that when they leave the office, they have all the information they need to proceed and feel confident in the decision they are making. I started working in our office in 1989 as a non-certified assistant, then took my Orthodontic Module at UBC in 1992. I have truly worked in every single position in the office from sterilizing, assisting, reception, financial, and now treatment coordinator and office manager.
We have an amazing team in that we truly all enjoy each other and really do have fun each and every day we come in to work. I have been so fortunate to work with two doctors that do incredible work and are passionate about their profession, and a staff that all strive to make every patient feel comfortable and well cared for.
My daughter, Kasey, and I are fortunate to be living in the county and enjoy camping, hiking, biking, kayaking, and gardening. When we are not off exploring, we can be found spending time with family or playing around with the horses, always with our dog, Mischief, in tow.
Certified Dental Assistant/Treatment Coordinator
I received my Certified Dental Assisting training in Edmonton in 1975, and received my orthodontic designation from University of British Columbia in 1978. I also was an instructor for the Orthodontic Module at UBC in Kelowna for five years before joining this practice in 1985. My education in orthodontics is vital, but I think that the most valuable things I share with patients come from my own experience with braces. I understand first-hand the needs, challenges, and gratification that our patients experience.
I feel very fortunate to work with doctors who do excellent work, and are passionate about their profession and the patients they treat. It is easy to work for someone who creates smiles you are proud to be a part of!
I have lived in the area for 54 years, and love living in such a beautiful part of the world. My husband, Emil, and I have a small beef operation on the Shuswap River. We have one daughter and a son in-law, but best of all, two grandbaby boys, aged five years and ten months! Camping, fishing, and exploring with them keeps us busy. I enjoy farming; my cows are my pets! I also like to run and enjoy yoga, and some day hope to do all the woodworking and yard projects I have been planning.
Certified Dental Assistant
I earned my dental assisting certificate from Okanagan University College in 1996 and completed my Orthodontic Module in 2002 from the University of British Columbia. As a member of our assisting team, I work hard to ensure that all patients feel comfortable and valued, whether they are just starting out with records or getting their braces removed. It is so gratifying to see how a beautiful smile can improve the self-esteem of our patients.
Our office is proud to be a positive part of our community. Dr. Broadwell strives for perfection; he cares about his patients and his results are amazing. Our team accomplishes so much in a day and has time for everyone who passes through our doors. We constantly work to provide the best care for each and every patient.
My husband Brent and I have two sons, Ethan and Isaac, as well as three crazy cats. As a family, we spend our time dirt biking and playing lacrosse. When I have free time, I enjoy the many hikes in the Shuswap area thanks to the local Trail Alliance, the many beaches, and all that makes this the most beautiful place on earth.
I am usually the first and last person you see when you come to our office. I greet our patients and parents when they come in for appointments, and help coordinate their next appointment. I’m also the one who generally answers your questions over the phone and helps with your insurance. The most exciting thing I do is plan fun events, like our Halloween Candy Buy Back and our Easter Egg Hunt! Above all, however, I love my job because, between my coworkers and all our patient families, I have gotten to know so many amazing people. So, when you come in, I truly hope that you love our office as much as I do.
I grew up in the Lower Mainland and the Philippines—I even lived in the middle of the rainforest, where my school was surrounded by fields of rice. After graduating high school in Manila, I moved back to Vancouver, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Psychology. I then spent a year in Fort McMurray, before finally settling in Blind Bay, where my partner, Trevor, and I now have a house and cat named Garth.
Dental Assistant/Lab Technician
I’ve been working in dental offices in the Lower Mainland since 2009, but I have now happily settled in the beautiful Shuswap, working alongside my favorite team. I absolutely love how positive our work environment is here, and we do our best to make sure each patient has a great experience.
I have many roles here in the office, including assisting Dr. Broadwell at our patients’ appointments, helping with sterilization and organization, and running our in-house lab. I love the variety of work I do, as there is always so much to learn and so many patients to get to know!
On the weekends, I often spend time biking the trails of Canoe with my partner, Matt. We also love spending time with our silly mastiff, Bo, who we often take on hikes.
